Book about In Utero to be published
Out next month is Gillian G. Gaar's book about Nirvana's In Utero album in the 33 1/3 series of books published by Continuum.
For the first time, the full story behind the legendary Nirvana album will be told - including many previously unpublished facts.
For example, it contains a chapter with information on the saga behind the track "Sappy", full details on the sessions leading up to the recording of In Utero (Music Source sessions in 1991 and Worth of Mouth sessions in 1992), Nirvana's stint in a BMG studio in Brazil in 1993, and of course the complete story on how In Utero came to be. The paperback spans 144 pages. You can find more info here.
Thanks to Gillian G. Gaar and Wendy Raffel. NFC will present a full review of the book soon.
Another book by the same author, Green Day: Rebels With A Cause, will soon be published in the UK by Omnibus Press. The book is "an in-depth account of Green Day's 20 year journey from their scrappy high school band days to international stardom."
Some more info from the press release:
"Green Day: Rebels With A Cause traces the band’s evolution through incisive interviews and first-hand accounts that expose as much about the music scene as the band members themselves. From their 1994 major label debut album Dookie to the award-winning American Idiot, Green Day have now successfully taken the spirit of punk into the world of stadium-rock. This intimate and perceptive band biography tells exactly how they did it and reveals what success has meant to these fêted Californian champions of alternative rock." Thanks to Sharon Kelly.
