NFC News New book collects previously unpublished photos and artifacts
Author of the acclaimed Kurt Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven, Charles R. Cross, is ready with a new book: Cobain Unseen. The new book features previously unseen photographs and personal items from the estate of Kurt Cobain. Full description:

An unparalleled look inside the brilliant mind of one of America's most revered rock legends, Cobain Unseen collects previously unseen artifacts and photographs from the estate's archives to form a fascinating portrait of the creativity, madness, and genius of Kurt Cobain.

Personal items and photographs take readers deeper inside Cobain's life than they've ever been before, and interactive features, such as Kurt's handwritten sticker-sheet of Nirvana name tags, facsimiles of unseen journal pages, and gatefolds of his graffiti-embellished guitars make this an essential keepsake. An audio CD showcasing spoken-word material by Cobain, some of it never before released, will be included. Accompanying the previously unpublished images and memorabilia is a compelling biographical narrative by New York Times-bestselling author Charles R. Cross.

The book is set to be published in the US on October 27.

NFC News Rivers Cuomo talks about Nirvana influence
In a Rolling Stone Q&A, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo explains how Nirvana influenced his artistic pursuit: I was working at Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard in the spring of '91, and another cashier, Harold, said, "Hey, Rivers, I know something you might like. It's called Nirvana." As soon as I heard "Mom and Dad went to a show" [from "Sliver"], I immediately started dancing around. It was exactly how I felt, and they were putting it to music. It inspired me to do the same thing. More here.

NFC News Australian radio host reminisces about Cobain
In a recent interview, PBS radio host Steve Cross remembers his 1992 encounter with Kurt Cobain. The Nirvana frontman granted his only Australian interview in 1992 to his show. "Cobain did it because PBS championed Nirvana long before they became mainstream," Cross says. "He was wary of all these johnny-come-latelys. But let's not glamorise it - most artists come on because they want to sell records and concert tickets." More here.
